We Support Medical Legal Partnership
In 2018, the Center for Arkansas Legal Services, in collaboration with CHI St. Vincent, formed the Medical Legal Partnership (MLP) to provide legal services to CHI St. Vincent patients.
Common Issues
Common legal problems that MLP patients and their family members face include the need for a power of attorney or guardianship, assistance in obtaining public benefits, managing child custody or child support, retaining housing, securing debt collection defense, and sealing criminal records.
Our Work
The Center for Arkansas Legal Services provides legal assistance at various locations. Our MLP staff includes a bilingual intake specialist and a bilingual law clerk to ensure equal access to legal services for non-English speakers. At our MLP clinic locations, patients are advised of Arkansas Legal’s services, given legal resource information, and informed of the opportunity for an on-site consultation. Our main location is in an office at CHI St. Vincent’s main Little Rock Hospital. During office hours, consultations are offered to patients. Arkansas Legal also regularly meets with the hospital’s care management team and medical staff to further assist the hospital in dealing with the health-harming legal needs of patients.
