The Beyond Opioids Project exists to fight stigma surrounding substance use disorder (SUD) and help Arkansans and their families by breaking down the legal barriers they face after being impacted by SUD. Integrating civil legal support into a client's treatment, recovery, and prevention journey is a crucial step in getting their lives back and making their families whole. The opioid epidemic has already taken too many Arkansans. On this day, we remember those individuals lost to overdose and their families. We will continue to do the work necessary to prevent any more in our community from losing their lives too soon.
As Arkansans, we can break the stigma surrounding SUD by talking about it. By having conversations, using person-first language, and learning about this disease, you could prevent an overdose.
The Beyond Opioids Project is a statewide initiative led by the Center for Arkansas Legal Services and Legal Aid of Arkansas to provide individuals and families impacted by substance use disorder with a free civil legal aid attorney. If you or a loved one need civil legal assistance, please call our VIP Helpline at (479) 239-9048 to see if you are eligible for services.
