Our Bankruptcy Series continues with- "The Meeting of Creditors"
What's that you ask- within a couple of days after a bankruptcy case is filed, a trustee is appointed who administers the case. About a month later, the debtor goes to a meeting with the trustee – and the attorney, of course – in which the trustee asks a series of about 10-20 questions. It’s called a Meeting of Creditors because, in theory, creditors (the people the debtor owes money to) can also appear and ask questions.
